Myra Hindley

Murder on the Moor committed by Ian Brady and Myra Hindley approximately July 1963 and October 1965, in the area around what is now Greater Manchester, England. The victims were five children aged between 10 and 17 years, namely, Pauline Reade, John Kilbride, Keith Bennett, Lesley Ann Downey and Edward Evans-at least four of them of sexual violence. Murder is so named because the two victims were found in graves dug on Saddleworth Moor and the third grave was found in 1987, more than 20 years after Brady and Hindley's trial in 1966. The body of the fourth victim, Keith Bennett, is also thought to be buried there. Despite repeated local search, is still missing.

Police initially aware of only three murders, those of Edward Evans, Lesley Ann Downey and John Kilbride. The investigation was reopened in 1985, after Brady was reported in the mass media admitted the murder of Pauline Reade and Keith Bennett. Brady and Hindley were taken separately to Saddleworth Moor to help police search their graves and then had to admit additional murders.

The press has characterized her as a woman of the most vicious in the UK. Hindley got some appeal against his life sentence, considered that she was a woman who had recovered and no longer a danger to society, but the news was never released. He died in 2002, aged 60 years. Brady declared criminally insane in 1985, since he was confined in the hospital with high security at Ashworth. She has explained that she never wanted to be released, and he has repeatedly requested be allowed to die or commit suicide.
