Pope Francis

Pope Francis (Latin: Franciscus or Italian Papa: Papa Francesco, born with the name Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires, Argentina, December 17, 1936, age 76 years) was the 266th Pope. As such, he is the leader of the Roman Catholic Church and also head of state of Vatican City State.
Bergoglio was the first child of five children. He is a holder of a master's degree in chemistry from the University of Buenos Aires. Rather than pass on his expertise, the Bergoglio chose to join the seminary in Villa Devoto and joined the Society of Jesus in 1958. With a degree in philosophy from the Colegio Máximo San José in San Miguel, Bergoglio was teaching literature and psychology at the Colegio de la Inmaculada in Santa Fe, Buenos Aires.
